John Goldberg, CFA is the Chief Investment Officer at Capital Trust Advisors. John previously worked for four years as a Portfolio Manager at Hahn Capital Management, a San Francisco based, mid-cap value, institutional and private client money manager. Prior to HCM, John worked as an Equity Research Analyst for Wells Capital Management. At WCM, he covered the financial services sector and various other industries including integrated oil, pharmaceuticals and consumer staples for the large-cap value and large-cap growth mutual funds and institutional separate accounts. Prior to his career in money management and equity research, John was an Associate with Wells Fargo Capital Markets where he performed due-diligence on leveraged buy-out transactions and helped manage a portfolio of high-yield credits. John worked as a banker, lender and credit analyst for Wells Fargo & Company with experience in corporate, middle-market and small business lending, including cash flow, asset-backed and real estate lending. John received the CFA designation in 2000. He has completed extensive course work in business administration at the University of California at Berkeley. John received a BA in Philosophy from Lehigh University. John is a member of The Guardsmen, a San Francisco Bay Area charitable organization dedicated to funding private school and summer camp scholarships for at-risk Bay Area youths. John lives in Piedmont with his wife and three daughters.
Sandy Lowengart is the Senior Portfolio Manager at Capital Trust Advisors. He serves as a member of the Firm’s Investment Policy Committee. Sandy is responsible for comprehensive investment planning and portfolio management for Capital Trust clients. Sandy has over 27 years of experience in the Investment Management industry including equity and fixed income portfolio management, manager search and selection and financial planning for high net worth individuals and institutions. He was Founder and Chief Investment Officer of an SEC registered investment advisor before joining Heffernan Investment Advisors, a subsidiary of one of the nation’s largest Insurance Brokerage firms. Sandy was a Senior Portfolio Manager at SDR Capital Management in San Francisco where he maintained research coverage of the industrials, conglomerates and energy/services sectors for the firm and was responsible for new idea generation and ongoing fundamental research of the approved buy list. Before joining SDR, Sandy was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager with Optimum Investment Advisors, a Chicago based money management firm with $4 billion in assets. He covered energy/services, basic materials and other sectors for firm’s Investment Policy Committee and was responsible for analysis of the firm’s multi factor screening model and technical analysis. Sandy has also held positions in Equity Sales and Trading at several Wall Street firms including Lehman Brothers and Cowen & Co. Sandy received his B.A in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. Sandy lives with his wife and two children in Marin County.
